The HexAvoider is a mobile robot that can move on its own and can avoid bumping into obstacles by changing its direction either to the left or to the right. It uses infrared emitters and receivers to sense the objects in its environment. It also has two antennas or feelers, which it uses to determine if there are any obstacles in its path. The robot is programmable with C language.

The user can create the program on a computer and then download it into the robot through flash memory. An additional option is the inclusion of a radio frequency module with which the user can control the robot’s movements directly from a computer. Its body is made of high quality plastic.
