Robots have been extensively used in the field of space exploration. Simple machines that can navigate through the terrain of a planet to collect data are fairly common in space missions. However, in the future, these machines may be replaced by humanoid robots who can safely work in the harsh conditions of outer space. These robot astronauts will be remotely controlled by a human within a spacecraft who will be outfitted with a helmet and glove which would enable him to control the machines’ movements.

This development would be of immense help in cases where a damaged spacecraft has to be repaired quickly. Instead of waiting three hours for a human astronaut to put on a suit so he can venture outside for a space walk, the robot can immediately do the same task and, thus, increase the chances of saving lives.
